The Estate

This estate consist of about 5 hectares planted at about 10000 vines per hectare in one of the best place of the whole Vulture appellation. The name of this place is Macarico. Vulture is probably one of the 4 - 5 grand crus of Italy. Aglianico here express its maximum in terms of complexity, balance and longevity.

Philosophy

To exploit the terrific quality of the land of Vulture by crafting an Aglianico del Vulture who is able to combine the finesse and elegance of great Barolo with the opulence and seduction of a great Brunello.

The People

Macarico was founded by Rino Botte when he came back to his native village after having conducted for about thirty years a wonderful restaurant in Brescia. He planted vineyards in Macarico by grafting shoots of some of the oldest and best vineyards of the area. Rino also runs a small wonderful resort in the center of Barile. It worth a stop.
