Sesti, Toscana
The Estate
This marvellous small estate owns vineyard in the south-west corner of the Montalcino appellation, in Castello di Argiano. The vineyard and cellar work is all undertaken following moon cycles and therefore low sulfites and light filtration result.
Philosophy
A good wine must reflect the unicity of its place of origin, as a whole. Weather, soil, environment, traditions, moon cycles...everything contributes to the final result. The winemaker can only interpret and try to coordinates the single components
The People
Giuseppe Maria Sesti, grew up and was educated in Venice, Essentially eclectic by nature, over the
years he dedicated himself to various types of work and research, and while studying art at the Accademia he was a frequent visitor to the vineyards and winemakers of the great production areas of Treviso, Valdobbiadene and Friuli where he developed a life long passion for wine. He realised by now that his accumulated knowledge from ancient astronomy and classical culture contained much information on agriculture and winemaking that could be put into practice. With this in mind and with the wisdom gained from the oral tradition of farmers he decided to apply to modern wine making methods, the old laws, thus combining the best of both cultures.
